Christmas Party – Just 6 days to go
If you ever visit our centre, you will drive through rural Zululand and see most people living a very basic life, very much below the poverty line.
Dear friends and family of IOP
I am so grateful for all your help that has allowed us to be adaptable and dynamic during this year, when it has been most needed.
As COVID-19 hit we had to close our centre. We were however able to act quickly in supporting our surrounding communities. We are proud to announce that in partnership with many donors, I Learn To Live, and the leaders of our community, we managed to support every family desperately needing food over the stricter Lockdown periods.
Concerning our children who have had no access to online learning – we managed to hand out 277 home school packs.
With all the necessary strict COVID protocols in place, we have reopened our centre. It is a pure delight to be reunited with our children and to see our centre filled with joy and laughter once again.
It’s that time of year again, time for our Annual Orphan Christmas party! This is when we collect all our children’s school reports, hand out their stationary for 2021 and raise the money we need to buy over 200 school uniforms for our most desperate children in January. As we are only legally allowed 500 people at an outdoor event, we will be hosting our CHILDREN ONLY this year on 18 December 2020.
We have put a lot of thought into this party, and will be carrying it out extremely well planned. This is our most important event of the year. To make this party safe and a success, we are going to have to change the way we have done this party previously.
Food:
Covid Safety:
500 children’s masks
500 Adult masks to put into home gifts
10L Sanitiser
350 Stationary Packs – pencil case, pencil, eraser, ruler, sharpener, coloured pencils, blue pen (only 200).
300 Christmas Home Care gifts – Soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, body lotion, washing powder, shoe polish, shoe brush, bath towel and biscuits.
Busses to safely transport all the children – R18 000
Printed T-Shirts for volunteers – R3 500
Please know how important this event is for our success in 2021. We need to see all of our orphans and they need this day! It is the very foundation of us all pressing forward and taking ground. We are so grateful to everyone of you. At such a crucial time in history, every effort counts.
Thank-you to you all for your prayers, love and support.
Much love
Kate, Mpume and the amazing IOP team.
